Resourcing Missionaries in El Salvador
Missionary to El Salvador Don Triplett wrote this note to share how Light for the Lost evangelism funding has impacted his family's ministry for nearly 40 years. Your participation in the We Still Believe campaign this year will make it possible for more results like this worldwide. Thank you for reading! Dear Light for the Lost supporters,
Light for the Lost has partnered with us for the past 35 years and has been part of every outreach in El Salvador since 1989! We could never have impacted as many lives as we have without your partnership. We remember when we did our first major outreach in 1991. The only money we had for the project was from LFTL. We purchased 26 kilometers of plastic banners, a full-page ad in the newspaper, and other items.
During the El Salvador civil war, we blitzed the entire nation by air, land, and sea. Missionary aviator Mike Hines flew his plane all over El Salvador dropping candy and LFTL tracts while preaching via loudspeaker, inviting people to local soccer fields to meet our teams.
Two girls, rebel soldiers, saw Mike fly over their position in San Fransisco Gotera. They aimed their AK-47 rifles at Mike’s plane. Then they heard him say over the speaker he was going to drop candy and LFTL tracts over the soccer field. They quickly hid their weapons and ran to the field. When they arrived, they met our team, heard about Jesus, accepted Him as Savior, and told us the story.
In 1995, LFTL helped us with $50,000 to buy one million tracts. We were able to reach 1,875,567 children and youth with those resources!
Today, we have an evangelistic series for kids called “Castle Club.” LFTL helped us print the first copies so we can help children in barrios connect
to a local church.
Our three daughters—Michelle Wellborn, Kimberly Sobey, and Liz Hansen— have served as missionaries, too, and their families use LFTL funds in evangelism. Finally, our 10 grandkids have been discipled with LFTL materials on the field as missionary kids. Four generations of very grateful and satisfied missionaries have been abundantly blessed through Light for the Lost.
Thank you LFTL! We couldn’t have done what we have done without your help all these years.
Blessings,
Don and Terri Triplett
